#REMINGTON SPORTMASTER 512 MAGAZINE TUBE CRACKED#
STOCK CRACKED AND ROUGHLY REPAIRED ON LEFT SIDE. ONE PIECE SMOOTH WOOD STOCK, PISTOL GRIP, CHECKERED BLACK POLYMER BUTT PLATE, MAGAZINE TUBE. BLADE FRONT SIGHT, ADJUSTABLE U NOTCH REAR SIGHT. Gotta' love Grandpa.4/10, REMINGTON, MODEL: 512 SPORTMASTER, CALIBER: 22 LR, BORE IS GOOD, LIGHT PITTING. Then again, he always shot prone, always.

He did a great job keeping this thing so well, even added a Military type peep-sight on the rear and removed what he called the 'ridiculous' sport-sights. Do any of you have experience with this rifle? Can you suggest the best way to disassemble/clean it for long term storage OR after light 'plinking'? I have been putzing with the Type 38 for the last 3 weeks or so, and I've come to realize that it's bolt assembly and internals are EXTREMELY easy to work on. I can't seem to find a take-down anywhere, and whilst it seems self-explanitory. However, I want this thing to work for years to come. (Dry patches down the muzzle, the works!) It's shot about 5-7 rounds of Subsonic Remington Cbee since I got it, and of course, not maintaining guns growing up, I cleaned it like an ultimate noobie. Bluing largely still intact (pictures to come, I know, I know), wood without serious damage or any cracking, and a nicely cycling action. one being a Type 38 and the other, well, his trusty 1940 Remington Sportmaster! I've been lucky enough to recently inherit two C&R firearms from my 87 year old ex-Signal Corps grandfather. but Geeze, you all sure make a fella' feel at home! I frequent many forum sites (Toyota Trucks, mostly) and find not all of us to be created 'equal'. I must thank you all for the assistance, warm reception, and quality morality I've seen amongst all with whom I've dealt with here.
